Full-time (non-exempt) position. Monday thru Friday with occasional evenings and Saturday’s
Salary: $37,000-$40,000, based upon experience.
What You Will Do
The Naturalist Educator position at the Ogden Nature Center (ONC) is a full-time role focused on delivering environmental education programs to diverse audiences across Utah. This position is integral to the Center’s mission of uniting people with nature and fostering environmental stewardship.
The Ogden Nature Center is in the heart of Ogden, Utah. ONC is an award-winning 152-acre nature preserve and education center. The Ogden Nature Center offers a wide variety of classes & workshops for all ages, summer camps, plus hiking trails, live animal exhibits, self-guided experiences, great community events and more.?
Specific Responsibilities Include:

Deliver off-site environmental education programs to first-grade students throughout the state of Utah, aligning with the Utah Science Core Curriculum.

Provide instruction for summer camp groups, ranging from pre-K through 12th grade.

Assist in developing and implementing on-site education programs, including school programs, preschool programs, summer camps, summer Saturday programs and community programs.

Handle and transport live animals for educational presentations. Animals will include snakes, invertebrates, tortoises, rabbits and small birds of prey.

Transport materials and animals using company vehicle for programming purposes.

Assist with creating and updating education programs and curriculum as assigned.

Assist in maintaining accurate records of education programs, materials, travel expenses and mileage reports.

Participates in events and fundraisers to support the Ogden Nature Center.

Assist with public relation opportunities, including booths at community events and farmers market

Other tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree or higher in environmental education, wildlife biology, education, or related field.?

Willingness and ability to travel for programs, including trips lasting up to a week.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; comfortable driving long distances in a company vehicle.

Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Must pass a background check.

Availability to work occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Comfortable speaking in front of groups of varying sizes and ages.??

Willing to handle education animals including snakes, spiders, insects, salamanders, rabbits, and birds of prey.

Computer proficient (Word, Excel, email)
Preferred Qualifications:

Enjoys working with people of all ages and has excellent interpersonal skills.

Spanish speaking

Highly organized

Articulate, with good writing skills.

Prior handling of small animals and experience in informal education is highly desirable.??
