We are excited to host the 34th Annual ATHENA® Leadership Award Luncheon at the Timbermine on April 26th at 11:30AM!
The Ogden-Weber Chamber of Commerce is proud to award the 34th annual ATHENA® Leadership Award to Raquel Da Silva.
As you have seen for the past few weeks, we had an INCREDIBLE group of deserving nominees, and every single one of them embodies what it means to be an Athena.
The 2022 Athena Leadership Award Recipient is Raquel Da Silva.
The Athena Committee was absolutely blown away by Raquel's positive energy and radiant spirit. We laughed and cried and were left in awe of her. She has overcome many challenges and accomplished so much already in her life. More importantly, as she has grown she has made it her mission to be a mentor and take others with her. She said, I once heard a quote about how lonely it is at the top, and that made me sad. I never wanted to be lonely, so I thought I should just work hard and bring others along with me.
Here is what her nominator had to say about her:
👉 Raquel is the current Executive Director of Family Promise of Ogden, where she has demonstrated excellent leadership to maintain the organization's functions and carry out its mission of volunteers and faith communities coming together to help families cope with immediate crises and achieve sustainable independence. In particular, she has led the organization to success during the recent pandemic.
👉 Raquel is an advocate for other women that are pursuing leadership positions and uses her own experiences to help inspire and encourage them.
👉 She supports the advancement of business and professional women by providing individualized training and skills to the women that she oversees in the workplace.
👉 Raquel also provides trauma-focused counseling, allowing victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to regain hope and heal. She encourages all women in the community to partner with Family Promise of Ogden in helping families experiencing homelessness regain their independence.
👉 She works tirelessly with women in the community and on the organization's board to accomplish the goals of her organization. Raquel is also trilingual, which allows her to connect with and empower other professional women of color.
👉 Before Family Promise, she served as the Assistant Director of YCC Family Crisis Center and later as the Associate Director of Family Counseling Service. As Associate Director, she created program curriculums and worked hard to get them funded.
👉 She has extensive knowledge in grant writing, which has helped her in all her positions. She also previously held the position of Director of Programs and Cultural Affairs for Girl Scouts of Utah, where she was the editor and developer of the Spanish magazine, along with completing other responsibilities.
👉 She works tirelessly with women in the community and on the organization's board to accomplish the goals of her organization. Raquel is also trilingual, which allows her to connect with and empower other professional women of color.
