“Twelve years ago, at age fourteen, I thought my world was going to end. Constant bullying in my 8th grade year had left me hollow, suicidal and angry. Back then if you had told me that I would ever return to the school, for any reason, I would have laughed you out of the room. But things change, I changed and this fall will be my third year as a teacher at the very same school. I will be reflecting on what I’ve learned over the past twelve years regarding mean girls, female friendship and compassion. Bullying hurts but it doesn’t have to define who we are."
